The Blue Market - 1rst and 2nd of March

As economic crisis deepens and stores close the one after the other, new forms of business enterprising show up such as bazaars!

Until recently about, bazaars were not so popular in the Athenian shoppers who definitely preferred shopping in stores. I'd say that bazaars were mainly associated with Christmas, Easter and general charitable cases. But it's not like that anymore since more people look for best price products. At the same time this new fast growing business gives the opportunity to artists to show their work and earn some money.

Earlier, I visited one of the most well-organized and prominent bazaars taking place in Athens: The Blue Market.

Οne could spend all day looking around and scratching the items for sale at stalls set by jewelery, fashion and item designers, photographers, painters and cosmetics makers.

In fact, I spent more than two hours wandering around in this colorful world...

... and talking to talented people. Lena and Irene are both jewelery designers. Lena (on the right) is selling her jewelery and her friend is standing by her." I'm an optimist. It's difficult but it's rolling. I don't know how it used to be. I've only been working for a year but I know there will be better times. Greece will finally make it."says Lena.
