Cycling against racism

The appointment was at 16.00pm.

Cyclists from the city of Athens met on Syntagma Square to protest against racist violence in response to the cold-blooded murder of a Pakistani immigrant worker in January.

Two Greek men both in their 20s stabbed to death the 26-year-old Shezad Luqman who was cycling to his job in the market at three o'clock in the morning.

Luqman and his murderers argued over who had the right of way.

Later, police investigation showed that both murderers were supporters of the ultra-right party Golden Dawn and had several lethal weapons at home.

Although all clues showed that it was a racist crime, Justice didn't include racism as motive in the indictment.

Reactions still go on.

Cyclists of Athens say the murder of the Pakistani immigrant is all about the Law of powerful against the weak.
"We see that on the street. Drivers don't give a damn about cyclists. We see it in every side of society".

This is a cycle-path of solidarity to all those who suffer from any kind of discrimination or violence. It's about to start right from the heart of Athens.

Let's go against racism and violence.

In Greece violent attacks against immigrants terribly increased since economic crisis hit country.

Furthermore, for the first time since 1970s and the fall of army dictatorship a far right party like Golden Dawn entered parliament.
